American Violinist, Educator and Czech Fulbright Award Scholar
As a violinist, Avery has performed at Lincoln Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall, National Concert Hall in Warsaw, Slovak Radio Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, Prague Rudolfinum, Berlin Konzerthaus, the Banff Centre, Canada's National Arts Centre among others.
As an educator, Avery Morris brings a decade of violin-teaching experience, integrating technical rigor, individualized problem-solving, and body-awareness practices to help each student best “sing” on their instrument. Drawing on her work in mathematics and neuroscience, she teaches adaptively by adjusting technique and repertoire to honor the whole musician.
As a researcher, her Fulbright work in Prague focused on Czech-Jewish Composer and Holocaust victim Gideon Klein’s pre-Terezín works, specifically his solo violin pieces which she is preparing for publication and performances.
Fulbright Scholarship Brings Student
Closer to Renowned Composer
Avery Morris discovered the work of Czech modernist composer Gideon Klein during a routine online search for violin/viola duets to play with her twin sister in the early days of the pandemic. She didn’t realize at the time that she had opened a door that years later would lead to a Fulbright scholarship.
